Bye Bye Baudry
Jean Baudrillard is dead. I thought he was one of the more nihilistic SOBs around. I didn't use to care for his stuff at all, but now I realize I don't find the ideas so annoying. One of my favorite things to think is that World War II is the most recent thing that actually happened. You're aiming low if you're talking about the Gulf War. Did Baudrillard ever consider whether the 50s, for example, happened?
It's kind of fun to see how the headlines refer to him:
- French intellectual critic of 9/11 and Iraq war
- French thinker
- Postmodern philosopher
- Consumerism critic
- the Mind Behind 'The Matrix'
- French Social Theorist
Baudrillard's style of writing still really annoys me, though. I guess I'm trying to say he's good if you don't read his words.
