You knew there was a sad story here

In the Saint Louis Art Museum, a sculpture of someone called Nydia has one of the saddest expressions on any art work, ever. Apparently she is the blind flower girl of Pompeii, which explains the cane and the cupped hand. Her story comes from a book where she helps people escape in the darkness and confusion after the eruption. In one of the movies, she drowns herself, which makes one more reference that thinks drowning is a tragic way to die.
